Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Mattel Movies? Is this a joke?

Starting a movie division in a toy company that can’t even make toys makes about as much sense as the last dozen chiefs that have come and gone at Mattel. It’s the last desperate attempt to save a dying dinosaur. And who gets hired to run this new business? Another chief with zero toy experience or experience with kids entertainment. And movies take a real long time to make, years in fact. So how will this save a company poised for BK NOW? And now another chief running a franchise team that is just another global brand team. Didn’t Matt-Hell learn from the chuggernaut cheese express and the chief content leader with no content or kid experience? What criteria are used to hire these people? Are these RDs hires? The top is so heavy again and what does Mattel have to show for it? More or sound bytes and bullets for the investor gun. Stupid is as stupid does. You can’t make this c-ap up. You people should get out while you can cause there won’t be any warning when the tower comes down

Mattel should make a movie about the final days of Mattel: DEATH OF A DREAMHOUSE

IMO Mattel has spent way too much time, money and effort being politically correct. Too much Diversity, too many Rainbows, Unicorns and Feminists in the workplace takes away from the real mission. Instead of making the company more creative and productive, it made it uncomfortably political. Yes some of it might work a bit if you let it happen naturally but this company is over the top and it's creepy even working there.

He's trying to make us like Hasbro. No factories, and a way to develop movie properties ie, transformers, GIJoe, and Battleship

Mattel's portfolio of IP is second only to Disney in terms of movie development potential.

Maybe Mattel should start a cattle ranch or a modeling agency or a medical supply company or open an aquarium. They have the same chances of success with any of these as they do with running a movie studio.

In April 2014, when Mattel announced it was working with Sony Pictures to bring Barbie to the big screen in her first ever live action feature film, the company stock was trading at around $40 a share. The movie was set to begin production by the end of 2014. Award winning screenwriter and feminist icon Diablo Cody was brought on to write the script, which she never actually wrote, stating, " I never even produced an initial draft. I failed so hard at that project. I was literally incapable of writing a Barbie script. God knows I tried" Five years and six screenwriters later and the Barbie movie never made out of early pre production, but yeah I'm totally confident that our internal teams of novices will pull it off in time to save the day. 🙄 This all sounds like a fantastic idea.
