This Chistmas Amazon is looking to fill the TRU void by mailing out a physical catalog of their top 100 toys. It will feature only 8 Mattel products, 3 from FP, 1 HWs set and 4 girls items. That's half as many as Hasbros 16, but double Melissa and Doug's 4. Thoughts?

"Classic" is what has lost our customer base you blockhead. People resting on their laurels, not staying on top of and capitalizing on current market trends or being disruptive and making new trends and standards.
An evergreen product is great, but nothing to be c---y about (especially since it's only one), it's a testament to how out of touch we are.
Good point.
@Vesqi3R-6msr I'd like to see you come up with a toy idea that's still making Xmas top toy lists 30 years after its debut. It's called a classic knucklehead.
Yes, we will be fired and so do you! We are all on the sinking ship! Mattel is selling factories in Mexico to balance the sheets. Who cares about the tariffs, the bottom line is nobody is buying our toys!!
Regarding the import tariffs from China, Mattel is actually in a fantastic position to deal with this going forward as, unlike our competition, Mattel owns it's own factories in Mexico, which is great thanks to NAFTA free trade. Mattel actually caught a break on this Trump trade war it seems, maybe luck is changing.
I hope all five of you commenters on this thread get fired! I really do. You don't deserve to be here with your negative attitudes!
The tariff will also eat away at our margins. 10% for this year and 25% starting next year. I'm not sure if our items are on the list, but eventually we will.
I don't think Mattel can afford eating the cost of the tariff, but passing to the consumer will definitely kill sales.
Obviously the days are numbered. You don’t need to agree with me but money will run out soon and Chapter 11 will be filed before end of 1st quarter 2019
For my daughter's last two birthdays (ages 6 & 7), she received roughly 12 gifts at each party. Of the 24 total gifts, she received exactly one Mattel toy (a Barbie).
Can't blame iPads or other electronics - these were all $20-30 toys. The reality is that no one wants, or wants to give, Mattel toys.
just another testament to how clueless and out of touch mattel has and continues to be., but who cares? we’re not s toy company anymore, we’re a film company!! Bust out the casting couch in the design center!
