Or still no news (which would be good news in my opinion?)

Isn't DRI also the name of a punk/hardcore metal band called "Dirty Rotten Imbeciles"? Kind of fitting, isn't it?
@Ve7dZcT-3xfv Just look at the latest post. It seems there might have been some fraud going on as well, apparently, CTO was related to the ASML EUV leader (not much details though).
Layoffs will continue. I like many of my colleagues wholeheartedly agree that,
"the company has already let go their most experienced technologists and engineers because pay grad(e) was used as the sole criteria..."
Since the IBM==>GF transition, we've bled critical resources some, who in deep frustration, literally walked out of GF doors and into competitors/lucrative start-ups. 1500 may be its" financial " model however until GF recognizes the paucity of seasoned problem-solving talent in their fabricators, TSMC will always remain the #1 semiconductor company in the world
What is the CTO who was the DRI for 7nm, now going to lie about?
I feel the CTO and VPs should taken some accountability for this mess.
They will continue to lie to the investors, customers and employees, until they bail with a golden parachute.

Biggest problem is work performance has no value, dishonesty, politics and country based discrimination.
Bigger problem is that there are not enough people with experience. Since the job market is good, GF cannot compete as a desirable company to join when there are so many real companies that on their own two feet out there.
Letting go of people based on paygrade is also why real companies like Intel, Micron etc. have been coming to Malta to snap up the talent GF decided to let go.
Ultimately, cost savings trough work force reduction won’t make a dent in GF financial fortunes. It is the business strategy and execution that matters, and sadly it has been in constant flux (EUV tool purchase for 0.5 billion to then just sc-ap it on delivery would be a classic example).
Of course, this is not the new CEO fault. He has to make do any way he can to show some improvement in the very short term in a situation that is anything but good.
Crazy how you guys are still employed here, where are you hiding? It’s nice to see the cafe isn’t full of people all day now.
To bring staffing down to industry standards as related to monthly wafer output, I agree that he workforce would need to be dialed down further to 1200-1500 headcount. The only problem is that the company has already let go their most experienced technologists and engineers because pay grad was used as the sole criteria, while management and the entry level engineers were left in place. Many managers have been promoted on a fast track two years out of college and are improvising because they never gathered the depth of understanding or mentoring fr these positions. For entry level engineers, my recommendation would be to switch to more mature companies where they can learn their trade from experienced professionals.
So it is not just a question of numbers. It is the quality and experience of the workforce that remains that is already left wantin as we speak.
No room until go down to 1500 :)
Just leave if you still feel that way, make room for folks that want to be here :)
Never say never...there is more bad news to come.
One’d really want to believe in what one’s being told.
But was any gap to the “leading dog” foundry narrowed by the previous two summer actions? What metrics got improved? Looking around to the unit modules - the ratio of mgrs /(engs + techs) got worst, did it not? Some supporting services, HR including, were intact. Where the savings are to be coming from? From the EUV tools decommissioning?
Mission accomplished? Or, there’s no business like show business?
action is complete for NOW
I think we are done for now.
How about other sites?
No further layoffs at fab 8
