Layoff protocol at sears is 1) face to face 2) over the phone (if associate is out) 3) Via your personal email address listed in your file. The system shuts you out on the day of termination whether you are aware of it or not. We once let go of someone who was on vacation and probably didn’t know they were let go until a week after it happened.
A woman I worked with was a Lead and was on Maternity leave and they called her and laid her off - send her belongings to her home via Fedex...no one is safe
Can confirm that finance got hit, unable to confirm numbers or percentages as I was one of the first they let go today ...
Thanks, zql! So far, no call. I may not be out of the woods, and I really hate not being in the know. But whatever happens. I wish everyone luck. I wish this were better timing, but it wasn't my choice. Could be far worse.
To the person who was out for a medical issue.... a friend of mine was in a similar situation and his manager called him at home to tell him the news that he was laid off.... if your manager doesn't call you in the next few days you might not be affected. I don't think they want affected associates coming into the office next week and then still having active passwords, etc. The person that I am discussing had his manager go thru his desk and Sears fed-x'd all his personal stuff to his home along with the paperwork for severance, etc.
No impact for member Technology today.
Seems to be scattered in every department. Audit, finance, pricing, store operations, buying...
Because I am out of the office recovering from surgery, and I want to know what I will walk into when I head back on Friday or Monday when I am cleared.
Why are you curious why they are curious why they are curious?
