Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

R&D RUMOR of 60 to go

Rumor - 60 to be let go in Research and Development on Thursday 20th of september. Although there are over 1K worldwide, 60 will be let go. There are many in Webster in R&D.

Another Rumor, goal is for D05 and D06 reduced by 20-30% over the next year [or by the time its over.]

Rumor - Visentin bringing in IBM'ers. i have not checked backgrounds on his appointments myself.he has brought in a lot of outsiders for key positions. ( i have no problem with this. i think current leadership is what brought us to this point)

Second hand information - group that was let go in webster ~last week - 12 folks- entire team- in blding 111 - they did something with customer sat surveys and technical writing and other stuff. sorry cannot remember the name of the group.

Levels. Sorry I am not an expert. Years ago we ( Information Technology, Engineers, salaried folks etc. ) were grades like 6, 7, 8, 9....12. Grade 12 was the last grade before Band B, which makes you a manager, grants you an office with a door, and a parking spot, and perhaps bonuses.

Then Xerox converted to a new structure, so a grade 12 was now a D04. My understanding is that D05 and D06 are higher than middle management. they would likely manage a team of managers. it seemed like a strategy to bunch people together in groups and it was much more difficult to get to the next level. Career roadmaps, annual increases, sort of disappeared.
