Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

At last, some verifyable information

-----Well, at least for me. Two stores in my city of Decatur, Il.; one is #1690. A friend of mine there yesterday told me there are only 8 o.n. associates left (out of 35 three yrs ago), there's a strong possibility of shutting down the store at midnight after first of next year, and that the CAP teams are taking over all day time dept. management/stocking. Possibly going to replace all current floor associates with nothing but CAP memebers.

No, not concrete evidence-----but at least getting it from somebody running the ball on the field, instead of all these vague, shadowy, nothing references found here.

We completely eliminated overnights and went to day stocking.

Department managers, assistant managers, support managers and csms have had their positions eliminated. They are going to teams. After everyone finishes stocking, there are team leaders that have their team do everything else.

There were team leader positions offered to the department managers or they could opt out and be terminated, with a severance.

The severance is one week's pay for each year of employment at Walmart

I don't know about severance packages or any other form of compensation, but what I'm going to be doing here on is seeking out associates at this store whose feed back I can rely on. Anything useful I'll be sharing on here.

Again: enough of the vague, unsubstantiated / can't do anything with this--so-called 'news'.

You're welcome. I don't work for the beast any more, but a lot of people do---last I checked, it's still USA's biggest employer----and people deserve a clear idea of what's going on with their futures.
