I just do not see how is this going to happen, there is no way 18k people will sign up...
We'll see what happens, I think there will be massive layoffs soon - similar to what Ford is planning.

Agree that 18K will not sign up for the package. Some employees close to retirement will, but the delta will be made up through layoffs. Big time layoffs!
Also heard about 40k at Verizon, well - that's massive - I am not sure how they plan to operate after cutting so much. GM has a smaller problem and I estimate that about 10K folks will actually be better off with the offer as they were getting closer to retirement. I have no clue what they plan to do if only 10K accepts - I am sure things will get ugly (layoffs) but then there the Union angle in this story, so really not sure how things will pan out.

What are the terms? Verizon just did this for 44K employees and offered 3 weeks for every year worked max of 60 weeks, includes health for term, bonus, unused vaca paid out
