Can you collect unemployment and your severance at the same time???
Not in Wisconsin (for the AG folks)
I'm in NY and got laid off in Aug. You cannot collect Unemployed Insurance (UI) and your severance at the same time. It really doesnt matter if you make a claim and then certify every week, you wont get any $. I'd give it about 3 weeks before your severance to run out to start the process. My severance ran out end of Sept, there is a waiting week and then I could collect the $450, which is for 26 weeks.
Good luck!
Yes, in CA.
It depends on the state you physically work in.
NOT IN NYS. You can file and they will put you in the system and tell you when you are eligible to collect once your severance has been finished. Not before. Be warned in NYS the max is 450 (maybe 405) a week. File while you have your severance, keep all information that is sent as well as your login password and information so that when your severance expires you can start collecting unemployment right away. do it now. As soon as you're done reading this dummy.
Yes, you can collect unemployment and your severance at the same time.
Check with your state's Dept. of Workforce Development (or equivalent). It likely varies by state
Severance pay is not deducted from unemployment insurance benefits and does not affect your eligibility to receive benefits. The method of payment, such as a lump sum payment or payments paid to you at regular pay period intervals does not change the nature of the payment.
