Hopes and prayers do absolutely nothing. Make sure you have 6 months of salary, resume, cover letter, the names and numbers of at least 5 recruiters and a solid network of past co-workers at all times. Always be ready to move on.
In fact, you should probably always be looking, just like the 19th floor is always looking for ways to help out the OR and shareholders.
