Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Massive deal

So I was curious on the size of this new Iraq deal, so I looked up the Algerian mega deal.

Algerian MD = 8 gigawatts

New Iraq deal = 11 gigawatts

This looks to be a massive deal the country of Iraq is looking to double its electricity production. It will be interesting to see what plants get what portions of the work. A lot of negativity on this forum but this is a huge positive for GE power.

Sticking point is not money Iraq has that. They need natural gas from Iran. Will they force them to import that as well from US approved suppliers?

Siemens will need some share of the order to go away quietly. Don’t think GE will get the whole order. May be they will get the French to side with US. Alstom steam turbines and project team will benefit.

For sure, Ge can use all the help from us government

Who gives a hoot about who’s funding it if it brings back jobs to Schenectady? 5 years worth of work is better than NO work!!

The reality of dealing with GE today is 'what is it going to be in 5 years?'. Who will I be dealing with, will it still be GE or someone else.

When you are dealing with a 30 year investment that matters. Something will be around but what capabilities will it have.
