Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

OTS is a complete waste of time and money

We have nobody to work the truck at all because of the restrictive labor budget, but WFM has no problem spending a fortune to fly these people around for needless positions that shouldn't even exist, as they arent nesessary in any way. All they do is keep us from doing basic foundational work like STOCKING THE SHELVES. Our trucks get backed up and it just creates a needlessly stressful situation.

Do something Bay-ZOES. Do it NOW!

i checked out a couple stores in sf and they are not ots compliant.

grocery no 2 deep facing & holes everywhere even never outs

seafood missing tags on wall case

meat sings covered in blood and holes everywhere

salads in prep foods shot & missing tags

bakery moldy bread

produce holes everywhere and signs missing

backstocks & supplies don’t have signs

these are certified stores and appearantly the gold standard what happened?

i talked to the teams and they said it’s mainly a staffing issue people quiting due to the enourmous workload and no one helps .

only the people with families stay to carry on the store but they feel stressed out of their minds and are looking to tech companies and hospitals where they start them at $20 + per hour for a conventional job.

there is no incentive to work for whole foods anymore just go to sprouts ,publix ,kroger, fresh market ect...

too many pointless things that do nothing for the company.

here is an example according to teams feedback:

all teams:case counts in receiving are useless since receivers don’t do anything with it.

another is all the produce teams have to adjust holding powers daily due to out of stocks at rdc since the regional merchmap has items on the mal that are out of stock or not on the guide!

so they daily have to adjust before opening or the ots walk snap shot will reflect poorly on the team !

grocery :

all supplies and backstock signs don’t aling since they are on the floor trying to get everything done especially adchange and noone really has time to check dates on all grocery items especially with scheduled under hours for full time team members

do a fulltime job with pt hours not pt20!

grocery has the nastiest cases since they never clean them at all!

meat and seafood way under staffed so its is out the window!

no filling and cleaning is skipped to keep filling sets or et ready for the next day.

prep foods uses the lowest quality ingredients possible moldy, soft slimy or just green or over ripe!

pass on prepfoods they use all the spoilage from all teams!

whole food global and regional need to go!

this is unacceptable.

It is kind of a fun little game no? Just figuring out which areas each different person doing walks focuses on and just making those areas legit for that day... Making it a game really helped take the hate out of it. Because, at the end of the day, everyone from M* down to EC's, AC's, merchandisers, STL's, ASTL's, TL's, ATL's all know it's total rubbish and just do it because it is forced on everyone. It just helped with the sale to Uncle Jeff! And really, if they tell you, f the floor, get your clipboards in line, then who cares? Get the cupboards right and f** the floor.

When the entire regional structure is dismantled and there is modern software, hardware, scales etc you'll know the company is serious about moving forward and truly competing in the modern grocery space. Until then, it's all just horsefeathers. If the numbers WFM ere impressive, Amazon would break them out in its financial reporting.

It’s a poorly executed plan. We needed organization but holy sh--.

Like we don’t have enough to do already. F--- ots.

out of stock count is pointless since they have them on the guide for order and then cut them leaving you with the work of adjusting hodling powers and changing the merchandising map then of course we have to post a updated copy of the merchandiser due to regionals mistakes.

happens everyday but no accountability there of course sh-- rolls down hill.

for some reason performance standards are looser at a regional performance level.

they have a regional merchandising map of whic 30 % are out of stock so teams are left with the task of adjusting every items holding power ,changing the map and updating it not to mention you will get questioned by regional why the tanles are empty and you reply we are doing ots yo be compliant and you get a talk to by your stl or store leadership on behalf of a regional visit of wich they are clue less of how it got to this.

amazon should really look into this since it affects the department fullness and generates bad rep at store level not to mention upset shoppers ,instacart, amazon fresh and yelp reviewers!

Try working at one M.A. region store where the smell of horseshit is in the air:) The locals will get this! Anywho, the store team leader sits in his office most of the time. This has gone on for years. Word has it he's a big pot head. Have rarely seen him bag on front end when they're in the weeds. He sat back & watched a new (still there) team leader of grocery gut all but 2 of entire team. All that talent - gone. The 2 leftover from before are no prize! Now all they seem to hire in is mediocre, for most part, new employees. The same grocery team leader holds up the walks because he's rarely ready! And the pot head store team leader does nothing...this has been going on for awhile. Other than the severely mediocre leadership in grocery, the other teams work hard to do a good job. Never understand why store leadership let such a bad leader of grocery (the team greatly dislikes him) stay! There are many more qualified dudes that would have done a better job! Shame....

depends on which person walks you they all different interpretations of ots.

even regional leadership in norcal has no idea how the previous person did our walk.

it’s nothing more than a publicity stung to make it seem like wfm global leadership knows what they are doing.

we have emails and score card walks that say different things depending who audited you we pull previous scorecards and emails to ac’s and store leadership all they say is i don’t know why it would happen ?

i think it takes for us to upload the walks and emails to prove it but that would expose specific info about what team it was and who could have uploaded it.

biggest flaw of ots is no one is on the same page of expectations / standards or times things need to happen.

ots is different from region to region, store to store and auditor to auditor.

we need to get people on the same page or do we need to post the facts and see what explaination they can make up for the variances in the program.

whole foods regional and global are only intested in proving they are in charge when questioned they will focus on you or have their store leadership/regional do it for them.

we have big issues in the north bay too.

not enough help aand store leadership doesn’t help and god forbid regional leadership helps or you will be in deep trouble since the standard can’t be maintained with labor cuts or understaffed issues and again they don’t care so the workload is passsed on to other team members then quit since they et repremanded for not keeping up the standard claiming team members just talk but all regiona & global does is just that they don’t get down with troops when everything goes wrong due to their decsions and yet they still blame team members and roll out programs to which there is no allocated labor for it.

all regional and global teams do is point fingers and tell stl’s to hold their teams leadership accountable while they just sit in the office looking pretty.

amazon needs to centralize this and cut the middle man out they don’t do anything for the company !

i hope someone at amazon sees this and passes it on.

too much fat at whole foods needs to be trimmed.

get rid of it if it doesn’t pay you dividends.

big salary no return they claim after a year or two comps come back but they do it again and again we always bounce back from bad decisions statistically it has to happen.

These $2 team leaders need to learn how to to a schedule. Once a tm has requested in Advanced and gotten approval, in Advance certain days off, actually give it to them. And if a $2 tl makes a mistake its the $2tl to fix it. Not the tm who followed the rules.

it works if you are fully staffed and and have the labor band for it.

but stores are so understaffed that doing ots prior to filling the floor only hurts the look of the store before opening.

in norcal at 5pm try any of the stores in sf area and there are holes everywhere!

we can’t get any applicants since $15 doesn’t cut it to pay the rent in the bay.

too many people taking vacation and regional people off on the holidays.

OTS isn’t bad in theory it’s just the pointless walks and general lack of clear direction that are dumb. It makes sense to keep things organized but the pointless clip boards are a waste for sure. It won’t change just except it.
