Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

The future is coming sooner than we might think

Reading about the new technologies that Walmart is going to deploy in its distribution centers, starting with the state of the art facility in Shafter, got me thinking about how close we are to being affected by tech and automation.

Shafter will be opened in 2020, and if it proves to be as efficient as the company predicts, it won't be long before we have distribution centers like this all around the country, with STEM workers employed and with a large degree of automation. That can only mean that warehouse workers at Walmart don’t have anything to look forward to and will be on the job market soon

Walmart will only get worse!

That’s why Walmart needs unions. They wouldn’t get away with half the stuff they do.

The fear is a result of not being forthcoming and transparent about their intentions. They let rumors swirl around for months before they announce a policy change. That is vile and demented on their part

That’s what the 7 guys said with shovels back in the day. Here’s the thing they will still have to have warehouse workers regardless, what do you thinks going to happen when those machines breakdown; which they do break down. Do you understand how much money a company can lose waiting for the parts to get that fixed? Will it cut some jobs sure. (Not all of them) I’m not sure how old you are but have you survive so far? It’s ridiculous that people live in fear all the time.
