Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears is nothing but a freaking joke and has been for a long time!

As a former long term manager who was smart enough to leave before the wheels came off I have to be honest, Sears has been a sh-- show for years! Eddie or Leena or Eric Stecko or whoever were so completely incompetent in every way possible! I blame the ivory tower id--ts in Hoffman, they didn’t just destroy a company, they destroyed people’s lives. So many associates spent their lives making sears home only to let these a--holes do everything wrong and pull the rug out from under them! I mean seriously, did anyone with a brain think that with no advertising and no re-vamping and the same dead promos and a refusal to grow the base that we would succeed?? Fake metric that meant nothing, making more money on less customers, SYWR would save us, more PAs more credit, nothing in stock, the worse pay wages for associates that attracted no one, but heaven forbid we not have a ready meeting or a PA meeting or whatever the flavor of the day was?? Gotta make those metrics look good, the minute my DM advocated cheating the numbers I was gone. Pathetic and sad and shorted sighted! All the imaginary math that never added up and still doesn’t and everyone is paying for it!

I remember complaining to my DM about how the other stores were cheating on metrics, PAs and credit, he made a huge scene about how it was impossible to cheat at metrics. I knew how to cheat as an ASM, but my store being a B store, was more difficult to pull off and mask the huge markdowns that goes on in the company. If you lied, cheated, and a-- kissed, you went far in the company.....

That's what I always thought of -- Wells Fargo. It was the same. This is bad but hoped that people used the cards and didn't pay. We didn't even try to get a valid address. You could say anything was correct on your license. You can write in on the back of it to update info in my state.

Rigging the numbers is one thing. What I want someone to go to jail for is the credit cards that were falsely filled out or forged. Isnt that what Wells Fargo got in trouble for? Same thing was happening in the stores.

I believe all of you as I worked there myself.

If you search "I hate Sears" & Indeed on Google, you will get to employment site Indeed's Sears forum. 1st post was written almost 11 years ago and that post plus most of the ones following -- for 5 pages ( most recent 3 months ago) tell the tale.

Although I lived it, it was validating to see it in writing that far back. There was NO excuse for what went on with this company. Workers saw the same problems all over the country for at least 11 years. Everyone knew. No one in a position of real power cares. That is why we are bankrupt today.

There is so much truth in this post. Sickening truth. I worked AP for over a decade. The AP side of Sears is even worse (believe it or not). You want the definition of worthless? Look up Sears Asset Protection DM/Zone Manager in the dictionary.

Well said. The ones who should've been let go are the higher ups that make the big bucks and bark orders but have never had to ring a register or do anything at store level face to face with the public.

Exactly. Rigging numbers. That's all these region managers have done for years now to save their chairs.
