Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

I'm an Engineering working at development team at Hong Kong Mattel office, everybody at work seems doing busy work but actually there's no new product development and there is very limited new tooling...

We can't quit and giving up our sizable severance package because most of us have been with company for a long time, we are all staying put and try to collect paychecks for as long as possible, it indeed is a dreadful situation but we have no choice. I suggest you to cut your losses and sell you stocks quick before it drops further.

To the original poster, are you aware that the so called serverence package is the same as you quitting the job? They will only go by the HK labour law so the only difference is the one month notice payroll. I suggest you start finding another job if you don’t find yourself adding any value, not just for this job but in other aspects of life.

To the engineer: you are not a victim, but with that attitude, you could be part of the problem. Step up and be part of the solution rather then simply waiting for the end that will possibly come as a result of your (and others) inactivity. Make something. Don’t simply check boxes on a schedule, but rather move things forward. Don’t be a victim, be a hero. Are you waiting to get laid off so that your next job is an easy plush assignment where you can apply the same attitude but skate by on a company simply having high times? Roll up the sleeves. Put in the work. Accomplish something.
