GF hiring?

If there is this supposed lay-off in Nov/Feb, why have I seen so many openings pop up in Malta over the last 3 weeks or so? Seems they are hiring not firing!!

This is just to replace the more experienced and more expensive workforce with cheaper labor. Also, they are bringing in new managers to execute on their new pivot, where only the combination of unique skills inexperienced new college grads and upper management with their inherent job security can deliver.

If the January layoffs are coming, the best thing to do is to look for jobs now, land something, negotiate a start date for late January or so and then hope to get laid off. This is how you can make money at GF as you are exiting. Forget investing in the business.

Because the smart people are leaving for greener pastures. There will be another layoff in early 2019, so why wait to go? These open positions are probably backfilling people who didn't get laid off, but rather jumped ship.

I've heard from 30-40 people per week are leaving since the "pivot" - mostly technical engineers not managers/support staff (HR, marketing, etc). That ought to cull the ranks pretty quick and leave the cheap soldiers and the expensive top heavy management well in place for some real fun.

The smart play is to go get another job and collect double pay. Look how many are leaving on their own without a package. The layoff deal is a gigantic bonus - up to 9 months pay as most being impacted had a lot of tenure and high salaries and are now getting $100k+ on the way out.

GF is not about growing the business. It is about capital extraction from Mubadala and infinitum (although Mubadala has caught on finally) and handing out leadership positions to the IBMers with fat bonus targets. The layoffs targeted experienced technical people because of their higher pay and therefore higher bonuses paid to management based on those. ost savings. At an engineering level, college grads are the safest due to lower pay scale, although they also get hired with enflated titles (which in the rest of the industry would take years and years to get), but at lower pay. The whole place is smoke and mirrors.

It's to bring in cheap meat. Back in August, there was a group that worked with both 7 and 14. They had a new hire starting the day before the layoffs, so the whole team thought they were safe. Hell, why bring in someone new if you are going to dump people. Well, turns out 3 people in that group got let go, 2 of them were level 8 and 1 was a low performer who wasn't let go in June. Mr. H1B Jones new hire is lower level and needs to be an indentured servant to the great GF, so he's cheap. This is likely a recurring pattern across the company to get costs down. There was a slogan that we used at my place before GF (and probably stolen from somewhere else): "We will save money AT ANY COST."

Managers get a bonus for cutting costs, get a golden parachute when they leave and the next company sees how indifferent they are to cutting people so they get hired somewhere else.

Fake ghost postings.

Some delayed, some by mistake, some to confuse and create perception of demand
