Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What is Hoffman like now?

Laid off 14 months ago, but it turned out to be a good thing. Took SS, work part-time 5 minutes from home and love my job.

What is the campus like? Is it a ghost town or does it seem like business as usual? Lots of former co-workers that were there when I left have also left. I wonder if they were ever replaced.

I heard the cleaning crew employees at Hoffman are being let go. Don't know if that means they will use a contractor or what.

I work in a 12 cubicle block, me and one more person are here. Managers are not in too. Plenty of parking. We await now, no feaking out - people have accepted the fact that it is all over now.

It's pretty quiet especially on Fridays. No one comes to work for some reason on Fridays. This week has mostly consisted of gathering with our teams, sharing memories and gossip just waiting to see what happens. We still have jobs to do and tasks to get done. Hard to concentrate with all the noise for sure.

The place is pretty empty. My row of cubicals has maybe three occupied. Most of the terrace cafe stations are closed. Good parking is easy to find in the lots that aren’t blocked off.
