Has anyone on here been called in for the Core Hour discussion? Well let me fill you in.. I was called in the other night.. I an almost 20 year associate, which has been on 3 rd shift the entire time. So, I was told because of my years of service, I would get the hours first. Lies, lies and more lies.. Core = 20 hours. If you want to get your 40 hours you will have to add a secondary job code, then go into the my schedule app and apply for anything that’s available. When I asked if these extra hours were guaranteed and was told no.. I can’t live off of 40 hours every to weeks for 3 months! No way... When showed my Core.hours after scrolling down and seeing that others did have hours with way less time with the company, my Core hours read 0.. Yes, nothing at all! A computer glitch. Yeah right.. If if it is fixed, only 20 hours a week will not be enough, plus I will not qualify for any benefits next year.. Core hours are good for you and our customers I was told.. And you will have consistency.. What? Consistent short on hours.. I had consistency for nearly 20 years.. Now, I’m working on a first come first serve hours scramble.. # I knew it was coming.. #ticked.. 😠😠😠

I work at a Walmart in Florida. Our full-time people are down to 25 hours a week. I am part-time. I have almost no hours. Morale is terrible. People are looking for new jobs. When the season starts we will be screwed!
They just put on my husband's schedule. 3 weeks. 0 hours. What are we gonna do?
Just went in to Walmart here in Sequin Tx and the shelves are empty. This is the result of Walmart cutting hours for employees that work a restocking shift. Guess I will do my shopping at HEB OR?
My schedule for the last week of March is only 4 hrs. It's ridiculous!
Also, if you go on leave, it can take up to 3 weeks to go back on schedule.
Core hours are B.S.!!!$
Maybe we should all group together and hire an attorney??
@7Czcg+VAEySRM That is the biggest problem I saw at Walmart when I was their for the little time. The same thing happened to my old store (before it closed and was not Walmart). Every time their was cuts it was the ones that kept the store afloat and made a fraction of what the co managers made. The co managers should of been cut. My store manager he made the most and honestly was the most useless of all. He would throw his work to the co managers and he would not do nothing at all. They rather cut hours and cut the ones that make a little to keep the upper managements salaries untouched.
I agree! Too many managers! Cut some of them out and they could afford the ones who actually work...Lol! I was told by a CSM that as soon as the Christmas season was over anyone that was sitting on 5 points was out the door and he wasn't lying..they also cut hours so we have to use up PPTO...just one of many underhanded schemes..don't trust anyone to have your back at Walmart..js
Walmart is trying to weed people out slowly, a lot of things are changing and cutting people out is one strategy.
Core hours\seniority is a joke! Watched poor workers take hours that were mine previoualy while cutting mine.
Walmart cutting hours one Associate at a time. How do you think they are paying for the remodeling of stores
I started working at walmart about a month ago in GA, i was told i would work fulltime, 9 hours, 5 days in a week, overnight. i desperately needed job and of course agreed. i was called last week not to come for a week and i kept on asking why, nobody bothers to give you a call to let you even know whats wrong, appearently someone worked over 50 hours i guess, so innocent hardworking people have to suffer, i dont think my manager even takes me serious, but thats just the name of this unreliable work. i dont wish the company bad, but i hope they realise what people are going through
I have 20 years in Ohio and they cut me from 40 to 28. That's after neg. Office lectures for no good reason. They asked if I'd be termed if they sent me home that day and it was a 2 point day! Thanks Wal-Mart! I had no pts. The lecture was 20 minutes! Rough...
So a manager is copy or pasting my signature or forging my signature to my core hour!!! Please help me what do you think I should do!!
Yes we are all going through the same thing as all Walmart employees are.
There will come a day they won't need us because their prices are sky high and no one can afford to shop there any more. It's absurd all if it.
Yep same thing happened to me at my store and I have almost that many years with the company too.. very sad I wish the best for you ...
I’m a 22 year full time associate and they have cut my hours it didn’t matter how long u worked for Walmart and was told cuz of my availability when I believe it is all lies so it is now first come and first serve ! It is all lies especially with management! They tell u what they want u to hear!!

File for partial unemployment.
Happening to me right now .. So disgusting 20 yrs in November
I've worked for this company for 10 years.when I asked if I did not sign the 16 hour core sheet they put in front of me,I was told by human resources that they then did not have to guarantee me ANY hours🤔...
Im just fed up with the entire walmart company, from cashiers to maintenance people, associates today they hire r rude, no respect for the individual at all,,,OH YES!!!! had the discussion on the second quarter of core hours, yesterday,,,,,,,,its just not right,,,,,I have in 23 years in Sept,,,,,,full time, now its bumped to 30 hours a week,,,,,,,,,they keep piling more and more work on us to do,,,,cut hours????More work????I don't think so,,,,,,,Im mental exhausted from this company,,,,,,this is the kind of THANKS we get for being ROYAL to the company,,,,i do no call outs,,,not late, perfect attendance,,,,,you get a kick in the a– everytime. Yet the asst manager that spoke to me about these core hours,,,,the paper I signed, I asked for a copy of it,,,,,I was told, NO,,,,,,everytime you sign a paper you r able to get a copy on what you signed,,,,oh nooooooo not here,,,,,,other words they can do whatever they want to with your days off and hours,,,,no proof, we have no paper,,,someone needs to stand up and take action with this company,,,,,yet I feel, they r slowly going downhill,,,,,,won't be long they will be out of business, and I won't see it, I won't be there!!!!!
(Walmart S.C.)Its a shame ive been working at walmart for 3 years & 2 months and I cant get any hours. What the heck is 8 hours a week to give someone. It's a dang on shame to not schedule anybody at least 20 hours bit less than 10 is so sad. I love working at Wal-Mart but I gotta find me another job plus I'm a good worker the customer like me..
Walmart wants to tell ever associate Sam Waltons beliefs, but doesn't follow them. I just turned 50 and I'm searching for another job. They treat all associates as second class citizens.
My wife was supposed to have core hours of 30 hours a week. Been ok through December, but the first week of January she is down to 22 hours. What about the guarantee of at least 30 hours?
It’s not that they are cutting hours, you just have to be available for “the needs of customers and business.” I had to open my availability. I was working 7-4 before everything changed but that shift apparently doesn’t exist anymore. It’s not that the hours was cut, it’s just in a different time slot.
Maybe each store should not have so many managers...my store has our store manager plus 2 co managers and i cant even count the number of assistant managers anymore, plus the support managers and csms and department managers....cut some of them out and leave our hours alone..it isnt fair..
Walmart’s way of forcing you to quit so they don’t have to buy you out or find lame excuse to fire you.
They want all part timers so the don’t pay benefits and lower wages and are guaranteed nothing
Yes, I’m on of those third shift associates being forced to go to second shift to get hours..
Another thing that’s coming is there getting rid of the third shift. They either want you on 1st or 2nd shift. The neighborhood markets are already on it, and the rolling it out to some supercenters as early as November.
