Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Where will the consultants be?

Where will the consultants that have been advising and recommending these layoffs and changes be tomorrow? Will they be there to look us in the eye? I think not! They want us to withdraw from Bartlesville. How many will be laid off or transferred from Bartlesville tomorrow? Job postings to replace those that have quit or retired with layoffs coming tells us what they think of the rest of us! Let us know when you know! Good Luck!

You could have the best, most efficient company in the world. Hire a consultant and the consultant will never say “good job”, “well done” or “don’t change a thing”. They will recommend massive changes and leave before the disaster they put on PowerPoint occurs. That is the problem with consultants. They have to justify their existence.

I wouldn't be upset at the consultants who had to make these decisions. I would be looking at your management that did a poor job managing the business they were paid to manage. It all boils down to leadership. The consulting company hopefully determined that the first people out should be the ones who hired them (for the third or fourth time).

Consultants are like aliens, they hatch the eggs in your chest and once done it leaves a dead organization behind.

Maybe we should hire the consultants to do the job of Management and run the company?

All they are here for is to allow management to A) not make a decision themselves and B) transfer responsibly for their cowardly not making a decision. How much are we paying anyway? (for these employees to not do their jobs?)

The consultants have already moved on to the next company.
