Honest question, whenever I notice engineers getting in or out of cars at Cisco it's either a 10 year old Prius or Corolla. Sales staff are all driving new Mercedes, Tesla, Audi, and Maserati.

Because Salesmen are too dumb to realize that they can't drive that sporty car any faster than an engineer can drive his cheap car.

Cisco is a sales driven company. Chambers was a sales guy. Sales is making bank. Cisco only has engineer because they need some to fix bugs. Sales is drinking scotch and smoking a cigar and getting a BJ. Engineers are happy for free soda and game machines. Engineers wonder why their wife is out with her girlfriend while he is working overtime fixing bugs. Engineers save up for that old Prius while sales buys a Tesla with their quarterly bonus. It s---s to be an engineer at Cisco. You are Billy Fish and sales is the king.

Car is bad investments.
Is that just Cisco? No, of course not.
Customer facing roles are at a higher grade and therefore benefit from a generous car allowance then add to that the generous BS sales bonus = $$$$$$$$$.
Engineer roles are happy to just get their PLI bonus.
Engineers are beta males while Sales are the Alpha types. This is why Engineers tend to be married to women who control them, the women rarely work and the men accept this because they are betas. Sales guys on the other hand are less likely to tolerate a lazy wife and so sales guys tend to be in dual income households.
Save your money, that way when Cisco LRs you, you'll get to truly turn over a new page in life; to try to truly start over.

I am an engineer. Spending money on cars is not smart. I prefer to put my money elsewhere.
There is a simple reason for that. People who have money usually keep it in the bank or invest it. People who are mostly in debt like to buy things to show off so that other people think they have money. Just ask any banking executive and they will tell you that is true.
