Company says active employement ends on 28 Aug and termination on 28 Nov...Any suggestions in this regard ??

I checked with HR of globalfoundries, they said since I am not providing actual services to the company Its safe to assume I am unemployed from Aug 28 even if I am being paid till November 28. The HR people are playing safe in this case. I called my university DSO and it seems they are not sure about such a condition...

The rules of unemployment are now based upon quarters. It is calculated based upon the highest quarter over the last year. You must have worked for at least two calendar quarters. You must have been paid at least $1,900 in one calendar quarter. Your total payment over four quarters must be at least 1.5 times the amount that you earned in the one highest-paying quarter. Your unemployment begins the day you are no longer paid by GlobalFoundries so it would be the November date. Read your disclosures carefully. Best Wishes!

You are good until 11/28 (last day of your employment with Global Foundries). But always good/safe to consult HR/ transition support you get during this period. Good luck

Better consult a lawyer, this can be tricky for international students

I maybe confused, but I don't think you are eligible for unemployment. The OPT only allows for 1 year of employment while you are a student. Unemployment rates are based on what you earned a year before you became unemployed. If you were not employed a year ago then you would have no unemployment due you.
