You can always count on Mattel to execute a “me too” for any major product trend, strategy, etc. way too late to actually make a difference to the business.
My thoughts: discussing this is like arguing about the last song the band played on the Titanic.
Thoughts?
Finally we have CEO who is doing this the right way.
Funds will come from other sources that’s not tied to Mattel’s toy revenues. If Y is doing this, he already has investor’s in place for such a project!
Rule number one of the movie business is never use your own money. Get investors who always dreamt of being in showbiz and give em some Executive Producer credits and you're good to go. This is how most films get financed.
Still need money to make movies. M Whose piggy bank you gonna raid?
There is finally a structure in place to maybe succeed. Aside from Brenner's expertise, she reports to the informed head of the company thus avoiding the convoluted ego driven idiocy of other company leadership who know nothing but like to call the shots.
I wish them luck, it'll be hard to top 2016's Monster High: Great Scarrier Reef in terms of just sheer cinematic grandeur, but if anyone can do it, it's this woman.
Show me da money
How long does it take to produce films and have them generate revenue? Years, is the answer. Will the corporate cash last that long while Mattel still loses hundreds of millions each quarter. Probably not. Just seems the actions are way too late. What is this film division going to do that playground productions and previous chief content officer could not? They were absolutely pathetic. This new leader is Probably much more competent, but seems way late with the balance sheet so messed up. The business is not turning around organically, so here is another Hail Mary pass late in a game.
