I'm a spouse of a Xerox employee. I'm an employee of a Fort. 500 as well. I'm also a client of Xerox and all I can tell you is I've never seen the lack of communication from a company that had/has such statue. No communication..... Unacceptable.

No apology required. Who can possibly keep up with all of the cuts?
To the person responding to my post about the severance package, I apologize I was not aware of layoffs on 8/1. They hit our organization on 8/15 and there was no communication of layoffs in other areas prior to our announcement. I am sure there will be many more people impacted. You don't change your severance policy and not make major cuts. They have to be careful not to do too many at a time to avoid reporting obligations as required by many state laws.
Prospective. Sorry..
To the commenter of the severance change, actually for many, it was the SAME day. Change effective 8/1, employees laid off 8/1. I didn't take a VRIF about a year ago, because with decades of service, I had a substantial severance pkg waiting for me. I'm a fool. I never expected Xerox to sink so low. I can only hope that any perspective customers read these comments, read online reviews regarding equipment failures and substandard customer service and RUN the other direction!
Everyone needs to realize this is what Icahn and his crew do- they invest heavily in companies like us, clean house to make it look good financially for a sale, this isn't about the longevity of Xerox- Xerox as we know it will not likely exist in 2 years... Research other companies Icahn has invested in....
Go forward, it’s all about personal enrichment of Icahn. That’s it. That’s all it’s about. Good luck everyone.
The kicker was when they changed the separation policy without sending out any communication and then started laying off 15 days later. Some people were caught completely by surprise thinking they would get a package that would include medical benefits during their severance and one week of pay for every year of service. We had a TAX email (Today at Xerox) telling us they would be consolidating locations and some employees would be impacted but nothing about a policy change that actually affects every single employee.
Many of us went without pay raises for years while Ursula fattened her wallet every year trying to help the company do what it needed to do to remain viable.
I never thought I would see that day when Xerox would treat employees in such a manner. Certainly not the company it once was or ever will be again unfortunately.
They are bums. I will never do business with them. Never
