Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

How much can we take?

I wonder what will be the last straw. What will make the remaining employees throw in a towel and go somewhere where their knowledge and work will be respected and valued.

Frankly, I'm shocked this has not happened already. I know some are leaving, but I'm talking major exodus. I'm sure it will happen sooner or later.

Same guy. Replying to himself. In the middle of the night. Over and over. Sad.

Basically the only thing keeping me here is the hope of getting the severance package. If I leave on my own, they will keep that money. It can't be long before the next layoffs come.

I took the severance package 15 months ago and I'm thrilled that I'm out. I didn't realized how badly I was being gang raped on my health benefits at GE - HORRIBLE!! I have vastly better benefits, higher pay and a much shorter drive to work...and a nice big check that GE paid me to leave, LOL!!

Take control of your career and get out! Leave on your terms, not GE's.

Been out at the new job a few months and I gotta say the grass is greener.

This is the best economy ever. I'm getting an average 3 job offer a week and I'm not even looking. Companies are dying for employees and have all that tax cut money to do the hiring. Get out there. It's great out there and things are booming!

From looking around and talking with people I think, ( gut feeling ) that 2019 is going to be a bad year for employees. Especially the ones with a pension. I think the legacies with more that 20 years will be offered a package to leave, and those with a pension and less than 20 years will be layed off with the option of reapplying for the same job under the newer wage package. Since Immelt went to work for health care company, I think our insurance will change again, and the pension will probably be frozen.

If the stock doesn't rebound during the 4th quarter, the credit rating may take another hit. Aviation can have all of the contracts in the world, but if they can't buy material, we are all done. Some suppliers are already on a COD basis.

Time will tell.
