Thread regarding Sears layoffs

New Sears motto

"Make fewer do more with less!"

At least that's what it seems to be the current motto, considering all the things they expect us to do WITHOUT any overtime, of course.

Five people are doing the work of twenty at this point at my store.

Nobody can tell me this is not intentional. Make it impossible to run the store, then close the store because it's under-performing.

How many of these complainers are being held at these miserable jobs with a ball and chain???? Good God, move on if you aren't happy, and you clearly aren't. I just don't get it. If you are only marginally employable, as I suspect most of these hangers on are, then you will have to try harder to get another job. If you are dumb enough to slave away at a job that you don't find rewarding, then you're doing it to yourself.

@UzHt5KX-hqi Thats how I am seeing things they are so bad exploitation is at its worst. We have like 3 good workers in receiving still left. The best one already looking for a job if he finds somethings its going to affect the back very bad. The other 2 are good to and they are also on their way out. Their is also another one in SST (so basically 4 good workers left out of the other 4). If the 4 good ones leave its a done deal nothing will get processed and worked.

I am also on the way out (I am one of the 4 that still knows what he is doing and trys to keep up with the work). I noticed how bad the work loads have gotten. No pay raises after the SST came into play hours are cut and task are piled up. I don't even do all the task that I am assigned (its just impossible to do them) I am hoping our store closes so I can unemployment or the company finally files for BK either way I am in the process to get another job if that comes than I am gone for good. Props their for leaving though the toxic in the company the overload of worker is just plain ridiculous.

If it doesn't get done then oh well. Just do your work during your shift and stay busy. If that's not enough then there are salaried managers. H.E. knows what they're doing. Trust in their "knowledge" and let them believe they know how long it takes to actually do something.

The riff raff managers in the middle can complain all they want, or they can help. But if you're busy they can't blame you for being lazy. Take it with a grain of salt and move on

I empathize with all of you still at Sears. I worked at Walmart Home Office for 10 years. The last 4 years were unbearable not knowing if you would keep your job one week to the next. The same thing was going on there - do more with less. Every time they RIFd (reduction in force, aka layoff) someone in your area, they were never replaced so the remaining employees had to pick up the work load. When I left, I estimate I was doing the work of 3 people. And getting paid for barely 1.

That motto seems about right. I was a backroom lead and was already doing more than my share with no pay raises for the five years I've held the position, even though I ensured the backroom was green in all the metrics and current in all the processes, then I was told I had more responsibility coming my way when we changed over to "simple store". That was all fine and dandy except that I didn't get a pay raise to compensate for the extra responsibilities of the store support lead position. The rest of my crew didn't get a raise either. I got fed up of doing more for less and I put in my notice shortly after the stores moved to the simple store process.

@oxz You are right. The workers are the key. They need to stand up for themselves and quite being treated like c-ap. Most are afraid to do so. It's amazing what people will put up with.

And if the workers keep putting up with it, then management will continue to cut because the workers are doing the jobs of multiple people for the pay of one person. The more everyone keeps putting up with the cr*p then the more they will cut. Either stand up, get out or put up with it. Your choice.

You're absolutely right. Unfortunately, that's the standard operating procedure by management, when a company on the brink of failure, is about to reach the end of its life. I wish I could console you further, but it's a cold hard fact that you need to accept. Do yourself a favor and expedite your efforts in finding new employment outside of Sears. It's the best medicine for your overall sense of well-being.
