Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Is this the final round?

Just curious if this is the last round of layoffs or there are more planned for next year or so ? Someone got to stand up and ask this in each and every town halls.

There is never a last round. No matter where you work, someone is looking into how to improve efficiency to eliminate your job. always work with that in mind and make sure you're earning your keep so that you're not on the list.

OXY didn't have any layoffs during the downturn. Not saying they never had any, but they handled this downturn a lot better than most and at least the employees didn't feel like they were waiting for the next round of layoff announcements and could focus on their career and they also had at least some confidence when making financial decisions such as purchasing a home, etc. Just the constant stress and worry with the rumors and potential email saying it's coming is unhealthy in addition. to the focus on saving your axx.

With the exception of the government or post office, every company on the planet will have layoffs from time to time.

If that stresses you out, go get fitted for mail delivery uniform.

What they said. NEVER a last round in this business. You just happened to see a relatively quiet period before. In the long run, layoffs are the norm, every couple years, in thus industry, and especially at COP.
