If the Company still needs to reduce headcount...how about offering voluntary early retirement? Pretty sure there would be a lot of interest!

Good thought, but the financials may not be there at this point. It’s sad, but even the people who weren’t laid off want out at this point. Lots of great people on all campuses...the environment got toxic.
why offer retirement when they can axe someone a couple years shy and save all that $$$? MZ is a couple of years shy of retirement age but even he could tell that his days of “phoning it in” were over and he resigned to save face. JS (the cowardly lion) is keeping his head low and hoping to ride it out finding any spot he can fit into without notice.
People would be running for the door and they wouldn’t be able to pay for it.
If there are targeted layoffs they can assign a number to it. Offering voluntary retirement would be too hard for them to quantify or control. Because they know the level of dissatisfaction and they are afraid of mass hemorrhage of personnel.
Nice thought though.
They'd have too much interest to make something like that work at this point.
AG did that a few years ago and lost a lot knowledge, leadership, and experience that left us reeling.
