Heard from a friend in standards team. Most 5g standards were designed by big infra venders. Lots of Qualcomm’s proposals were blocked by alliance of other companies. We end up with little essential patents. He doesn’t think we can collect royalties like before anymore.

@UvgFx8r-2coe need to start counting only patents that are explicitly licensed. People should not be rewarded for maximizing the number of b---s--- IDFs they can attach to their name.
Don’t worry guys!
We are going to
WIN! WIN! WIN!
With 5G. Don’t stop now!
Keep work 24/7 x7
There are too many junk patents. Legal department once reviewed thousands of patents and find ZERO valid against AAPL.
This is what happens when leadership indulges the fantasy that patents can be created out of thin air with no engineering organization to back them up. QTL's greed has turned the whole industry against the company; now any SEP Q puts forward has to be damned good for anyone to risk letting in another Trojan horse. At the same time, standards participants circulate proposals without checking with the internal teams that will be implementing them... is it really a surprise that this results in b---s--- that gets shot down?
I agree. Plus patents run out. What is their life 15 years? That is Qualcomm's rush to 5G because 3G and 4G patents will run out of protection over the next few years.
