I heard the HR manager wanted to set up 600 folding chairs at Supreme Court Gardens and play Waltzing Matilda on her clarinet.
I heard over 900 in scope to be placed into about 600 positions, so 300+ to be chopped...
Good luck to everyone!
Axe about to be swung. Rumours are that management have numbers they need to meet at part of VCA which we will knew about. Good luck to everyone. And if ops think they are out of scope this time wait till next year there will be another round!
I heard the free cofffee was on the chopping block again.
“The” ABU has been nothing but a pain.
All this talk about FE and AD is just bull. What counts is how many zeroes there are in your severance pay check so long as the first number isn’t zero also.
Will know by 21st September more job cuts in FE comped to AD
The most important thing is to back stab yer mates to keep yer job ok cobber.
Any ETA on round two results?
Any round 1 news ?
Target of 40% of diversity (female or aborignal) candidates to be on the shortlist of 5 people for each position .....
First round of victims started getting word today....
All who have been punted before seem to have gone ok ...CVX not the only gig around
2dbu....the older folk i feel have gone. There now into some good people. The assets wants numbers cut on their payrole.
Such a bureaucratic company need people to manage the blah..blah. Good luck to all downunder
Sorry to hear about about the folks at ABU going through the shedder again. If there is any up side, a good number of senior level positions are starting to appear on linkin recently...the baby boomers seem to still be heading to retirement at a good clip here in the USA.
I heard that they are seriously trying to cut out a lot of the older so-called "deadwood" and they are favoring the younger, fresher, more enthusiastic and energetic workers. So I'm not so sure if having decades of time in is necessarily a plus. Most younger kids can do much of what I do with some exceptions. Sure , we all like to think that we are so indispensable and golden. But at what cost? A company or corporation is not in business to make/keep old friends and set up pensions/retirement plans for geriatrics. They exist to make a profit for shareholders and provide a vital service to the community and nation.
I am on FTC for the last 6 years. I have seen many permanent people go and am still around. Hoping the same this time too.
ABU expats that are considered must moves in the next two PDCs are considered in scope. Those left standing at the end of first round will have opportunity to post during the PDC. I can’t imagine that is anything more than a HR arse covering excercise - if the ABU doesn’t want you, neither will any other BU.
Will a PDC selection activity be used to fill positions? Can current Australian expats be sent back to that country during the selection process?
35% is a high number. It’s equal to looking at the colleagues standing to your immediate right and left. If it’s neither of them to be let go, then IT’S YOU!!!!!!
1st round is underway where management positions are filled first. 2nd round will start in a couple of weeks with positions filled by those chosen in the first round and above. Will not be for about 6+ weeks until positions have been filled and final numbers left standing known. In Asset Development, it is around 15%.
35%...ouch! I wish all left standing good luck in the upcoming PDC. It is the wrong time in this commodity cycle to be making good people walk!
