Change in severance effective July 31, 2018. Unbenounced to anyone, HR changed policy for the sales organization, of 2 weeks flat severance. No longer are the years of employment relevant when being terminated/IRIF'd. For all of you hanging out for the big payout, it's over. Salespeople can now be terminated at a moments notice, for any cause. Get out now and get your sanity back.

At least in the US severance is only paid out in the case of involuntary separations.
But what I'm seeing also is that if you quit, with proper notice, you still get severance.
I hear The primary tactic is to terminate people for any reason true or fake, to avoid severance all together.
I looked at the HR Policy online but did not see anything about how severance is calculated/determined. Can anyone clarify?
Evidently, it's by organization. Admin's was 1 week of pay per year of service. As of 7/31/18, it's been capped at 8 weeks, lump sum, insurance stops. Quite a punch in the throat for those of us that have been there for decades. Xerox doesn't care about their employees. Only goal is to make it look profitable, to sell to unsuspecting buyers. Only after the sale will the buyer realize it's a beautifully wrapped, empty box.
Can HR custom-tailor severance packages by organization??? I mean - can HR have a severance package for XIM, a severance package for Global Procurement, a severance package for Real Estate...etc? Doesn't make sense because I thought a Xerox policy applied to the entire company not individual organizations - but hey - I could be wrong. Someone enlighten me please.
