Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Any news from singapore office?

Singapore office hiring so many new and experienced engineers for technology. Is there another layoff coming for the current experienced folks? What is the management's strategy on hiring so many people (even at senior level)? Can promote their own high-performers instead, right?

LOL. what a load of c-ap. stay course for so long already still no benefits for lower levels. people went out and came back again with more benefits. people who stayed with the company during downturn have been hit the most (instead of being rewarded for their loyalty). u say things will take time but the market picked up already and we see organizational changes happening at the top all the time. bosses get promoted for all the sh-- work lower levels are doing. then they wash hands and move to manage other departments. the lower level just suffers. the succession management is just f---ed up. and then there is the age old big gun bosses always take out during desperate discussions, "u must understand lah. we are not profit center. we are cost center. so its difficult to build a business case to higher management"... wtf, cost center means cursed for life.

would like to urge all to stay the course, things will get better, but these things take time. yes! there will be bumps in the road ahead, but in time efforts will come to fruition and our synergies will co-exist to smooth things out for ALL involved , regardless of your location. we are champions of global logistics and business and soon we will extend our knowledge into how we interact with one another globally, into a seamless no boundaries integration. but we must stay the course, be patient, work with your superior, even more important when implementing at the lowere levels, which is why these plans will bear fruit. thank you all.

singapore edb grant gone already. no more this year. last 3 years engineers already enjoyed US trip on govt money. dont know if learn anything or not but have fun and food and meet the bosses. this year people who abt to go bad luck for them coz no edb grant.

never know upper management decision. suddenly can happen anything. maybe they flip coin and decide.

heads = layoff, tails = hire more, stand on edge = promotion

its an up for the new joiners. getting promotion / higher salary after going away from company and coming back.

and its an eternal down* for the people who stayed back and still slogging to chase the nonsense monthly targets which make the bosses look good to their bosses.

  • number of years going up but still same position cannot be called as stable. it is a down.

No need too happy. Now hiring more means next round of down swing will be reducing more.....by law of physics.... what ever gain = what ever loss.....it is a norm cyclical patterns in oil field industry.
