Anybody knows what went wrong with the whole "pay employees to deliver online orders on their way to home" thing? Why has it been scrapped?

Just another attempt to screw over desperate employees.
Not enough participation . What happened to team players?
Nonsense 2djl. The problem they had is they could not get enough takers for the fools errand. The economics for an employee are not unlike working for Uber. It is a loser for most anyone doing the work. The cost of amortizing the vehicle aren't there let alone proper compensation for time. The company has to depend on a person's foolishness or desperation to participate. It is unsustainable. Even Uber must continuously troll for new s---ers as most people realize in short time it doesn't really pay. There are much better easier more profitable and less risky ways to earn money. Fortunately the economy is improving enough that most people wont need to work for companies like Walmart anymore.
@ 2djl - Is that you Marc?
@1rgc gets vewwwwy angwy when the tendies get cold
What went wrong is that the economics didn’t work out. The margins in grocery are very low. To make associate delivery profitable or at least neutral requires a fee high enough to cover all the costs of the delivery; associate wages, fuel, and a per diem rate to cover the fixed cost of the associate’s car. Depending on the distance the customer is from the store the neutral fee could approach $20. To lower the per customer fee multiple deliveries could be delivered on a single trip but that requires significant customer density.
Believe it or not Walmart is in business to earn money. If an idea is tried and fails to earn money, it will be stopped.
Delivery is a convenience that customers will pay for...at the right price point. The company will continue to try new ideas to serve our customers.
To the asshat who can't disavgree with someone's views without stooping to insults.... You're one of those scroto-homos who people fb friend and then turn right around and delete you, because you blow up every one of their posts, right? .............. Hey: there's a WM sale on Kotex, btw, for next time he wants to play Jay-O o on yoooooo ~~~~~
lol @ captain neckbeard worrying about nonexistent MeToo. Go back to the basement, your chicken tendies are getting cold and mommy won’t make you more. The adults are talking about real issues like Walmart destroying jobs through its identity crisis.
@1rrx Walmart seems to be building a history of announcing initiatives meant to compete with Amazon, and then quietly not following through or dropping them.
I wonder how much traction JetBlack has gotten.
It was just a play to take attention away from the Amazon delivery news.. Then walmart realized how complicated it would actually be.. Just grasping at straws at this point.
Not to mention getting a 'Me - Too' case dropped on your head! "I want a billion dollars cuz your guy there looked at my tit" ..... "Ted, close the door, have a seat. We know you've been here 17 years and even tho we have no proof of this claim against you, we have no choice but to terminate your employment with Walmart. Here's your check."
F. . .K THAT
They also want you to assume liability in an accident. The mileage fee in no way covers the true cost of wear and tear to your vehicle. It is a fools errand to participate. There are so many potential pitfalls for the employee. Stay away.
Homo Orifice was just fine with it til that tricky part-----P A Y. This company's lust for money will never fail to sicken me.
The Walton's don't have enough money yet. They need you to make them a bit more on the way home. I guess most saw it as the s---ers play that it is.
