Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Phoenix Today

No-trust culture paralyzed by fear, duplicity, deceit, retaliation, reprisal, blame, conformance, obedience, complacency, and favoritism. Management fails at any facsimile of collaboration, transparency, honesty, integrity, and support. Management is completely untrustworthy. The environment is cut-throat. Few managers have their employee's six (or back). More than likely management would stab an employee in the back. Employees when they are promoted is the result of loyalty, obedience, and conformance; definitely not merit, capability, or qualifications. Independent thought, dissent, curiosity, critical inquiry and analysis, and disagreement are systematically punished. Management reaps whatever rewards are available. There is ZERO consideration for quality. Class sizes have doubled in many programs, reducing what little quality there might have been. The downward enrollment trajectory continues prompting more cuts to critical student services. This is not a place to either work at or enroll in if one is a self-respecting, ethical, honest, trustworthy, independent thinking, creative, capable, quality-oriented person with options. It wasn't always horrible. I left after 24 years. First 10 were actually good. We did educate people, albeit it was definitely "education-light." It has been horrendous since late 2012 when campus closures began and it became incrementally worse. I stayed because of the $ and the hope that somebody might actually lead us out of this abyss. This Phoenix will not rise.

Take notes, print emails and document unethical behavior. At least try to get some folks fin trouble when it all goes down or help students get $$$$ back.

I cannot believe they played us. I will never ever have anything good to say about UOPX.

They want us to give them our best and what do we get. They expect us to lie for them just to keep enrollment up. And hide what's really going on. I have never seen so many unethical educated fools that start to believe their own lies. UOP is FOS...

I have to agree with the poster who likened UOP to a cult. I believe it's true. When I worked there, LDS employes were especially favored. They always did what they were told, no questions asked.

There are way better, legitimate jobs out there people! Get out while you still have your sanity! It took me a while to get out and the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders. Trust me, that place will make you crazy!

Wow!! UOP continues to spiral out of control. A member of my department had a meeting with the Pres prior to leaving to discuss ' concerns'. He asked the ethics department to meet with them but it was obviously inconvenient from them as the meeting was rescheduled over a 2 week period until the person was no longer with us. Interesting - but confirms our manager's statement that the department isn't ' the ethics police'! Fink rules.

This post is spot on. I had lunch recently with people I used to work with. They were tremendously concerned with what they are being asked to do and are moving toward leaving the university. Rules and regulations mean nothing , contracts are not being followed, and they are told to do what they are told or they will be written up. This place is a disaster waiting to blow up. All that it will take is an audit by the DOD or HLC.

If you are age 23 to 33 get out now, 34 to 44 there is time to make a planned career change. Over 45 yrs old just put up with this shell of a company and dream of being retired one day

"If you bring up a concern or question a change, your name is added to the layoff list." True dat.

Gotta say I agree!! It was the reason I left. Upper management was laying off the ethical staff, they were only promoting 'yes' people. If you bring up a concern or question a change, your name is added to the layoff list.
