To everyone who has gotten laid off, my sincerest condolences. It is rough and I’m sure many good people were let go. With that being said... it was something that was necessary given the situation mattel is in right now. But what blows my mind is that folks like Richard d---son are still here... he came back and failed at everything so far. What has he really done? And how does he get more? And promoting Steve? That’s just funny. The price tags we pay some of these people are astronomical and could have saved some good people. And even in the SVP, VP and director level... so much more fat needs to go. Why are we so top heavy still??? And why do we pay these people so much money to do so little?! With these “leaders” still in place... it is still a very unpromising and uncertain future ahead

I work at AG in Wilmot, WI. The announcement that we were closing was made the same day Margo announced she was leaving. 135 people lost their jobs. Then we started to hear that she made 4000+ times more than the average employee. It turned my stomach.
Why would they ever leave unless they are forced to? They get paid loads of money to sit around and make all their a-- kissing underlings do all the work. Isn't that the corporate America dream? Kiss a-- long enough until you get to a point where others have to kiss your a--.
The compilation of SVP's and above are viewed as the most incompetent group of management by recruiters and other companies. They wouldn't touch anyone. RD's only option was to rejoin Mattel since there were no other takers. It's the reason no one leaves because they have nowhere to go. As for us, we then get stuck with this group running the company into the ground at insane salary levels.
at least MZ saw his time was up and is “resigning” or so he says, and yet JS still prances about with a big sh-- eating grin on his face like he hasn’t a care in the world because as long as the old gal has people under him he’s got credit to claim for others hard work. most useless PIS that bloated hag SL brought back to mattel.
The Hasbro ship has sailed. Hasbro might scoop up a brand or two in a bankruptcy liquidation sale, but that's about it. No one wants to touch Mattel right now. it's in a financial free fall. All you have to do is take a look at the P&L reported in the earnings to know what's up.
Only hope for some is if Hasbro buys them. Your correct leadership is horrible and toxic. Purge directors who have been promoted for no reason other they sold their souls and have their head the VP’s a--. I feel sorry for the good hard working folks that have to put up with the toxic environment and HR does nothing about it.
.....and with the way things have been going, it will be necessary again in the not too distant future. Our new reality here at Mattel ☹️
I feel blessed to have been let go in the latest round. Sure, if it had happened 1-2 years ago, I would have been devastated, but at this point it's a win. Things are beyond dire, it was an extremely toxic environment and there's no guarantee those let go in the next round of layoffs will receive any severance. At least I'm getting out and have some temporary income as a buffer to look for new work. Plus I no longer have to live in fear. God bless the folks still there who are betting on a turnaround.
