Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

QCOM needed NXP

In the show today, the managers sang and danced hard. But it show felt tired, repetitive. QCOM needed NXP to have a renewed purpose and to set a new course.

Yeah also f--k you, china.

NXP survived for now, but as an NXPer I think you guys dodged a huge bullet. The problem with NXP is much like QCom. The guys at the top are out of ideas so NXP really only has 2 business units left a. Auto and b, Micro-controllers. In reality a. and b. are the same thing. The rest of the company has been trashed since the Freescale takeover. Standard products (one of the largest divisions) was sold to the Chinese, Digital Networking is all but destroyed and RF can't make money because it is waiting around for 5G and if that is low power it is screwed.

But the big deal is that NXP spends next to no money on developing new technology. There is only a very few small units that do anything new. QCom were in for a huge shock if they ever got to see how little gets spent on the next big thing. NXP's version of innovation is putting a ARM on an Arduino styled PCB. Thats about as s-xy as it gets. There is no technical ladder meaning, no really technical people making sure things actually work, its usually trial and error, followed by disaster before a product actually emerges.

You guy in Qualcomm have no idea. NXP could never do half the stuff you do with the people they have in place. Don't get me wrong there are some good engineers here, but they are so hamstrung they can't develop anything.

OP it's the other way round. China f--cks u because 60% of Qs revenue comes from China. 60% of your salary. If you f--k C, then C wont pay and you get laid off. So STFU
