Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Bye bye inovation

I'm guessing that since research is one of the most affected areas, we are kissing innovation goodbye for good.

Yup, I'm sure that'll work out really well for us in the long run.

We are where we are because we keep rehashing the old and not coming up with new. Reducing our capabilities to even do so will ensure that we go the way of TRU.

RESEARCH Was poorly done and useless information. Don’t need it to be innovative. Sorry.

It seems to be toy testing and research. A lot new research coming from them was on trend when they send out the email. It just kind off a newsletter with the latest trends. Mattel moves to slow to activate against trends. Also the toy testing dept is mostly there to skew a decision to a yes or a no, so the the upper management can say it and have data to fall back on.

By research, do you mean Market Research, as in spying on the competition and focus groups?

Or do you mean Research and Development, as in actual designers are being most affected? If it is the latter, you are in trouble.
