If cutting the workforce is like editing a wardrobe, then let’s think about it like this:
- Your best pieces of clothes are on the hangers, serving you well. You donated the rest. Fewer blazers, one classic white shirt, a handful of well made casual outfits. You’re left with a rack of your best, hung neatly on wood hangers.
Or:
- Racks and drawers of solid contributors let go. Doesn’t make a giant difference to the bottom line. Piles of managers left in the guest closet, many responsible for driving revenue. DRIVING REVENUE. Continues to drive us downward.
How did this edit go for us? Are we left with a wardrobe that serves us well? Did we pick and choose correctly? Did we pass along our bad seeds? Are we looking at results or just slimming down the closet so it looks more like a model home and less like a functional, profitable business?
