Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macys west credit center

Macys is eliminating back office jobs at west. Billing representatives are becoming phone agents. Any position that does not have a equivalent w level are being let go. Hal is vistiting on Thursday. I guess too see his dirty work or maybe see who else he can cut. Maybe it will make him enough to buy another celebrity mansion and then throw an awesome tasteless party in vegas again. Oh and by the way the email Jeff sent out regarding the 10,000 layoffs during the holidays was titled " happy new year ". Out of touch with reality these two are.

Ohio got rid of coaching leads, and let all kinds of people go. All of credit granting either left for other companies or were transferred to other departments... tech , .com and service recovery all went overseas most fraud is handled by an outside company. The people they are hiring in Ohio is store support. The people leaders are now suppose to be over everything now. I just wanted to clear that up. Something for sure is in the works.

The Arizona center will most likely close in the next year (or sooner). Look for more layoffs in the next few weeks and again right after the holidays. There was a frantic rush in the past year to spruce up the building and I believe that they are planning to liquidate that real estate asset. A lot of the back office functions have been quietly transferred to offshore centers (Philippines) and will also be partially worked by new hire agents in Ohio. The Florida center will also most likely be closed within the next year. MCCS can't afford (or does not want to) to offer severance packages so people are most likely going to be terminated for "substandard performance" after having their positions eliminated and being forced onto customer service phones with little to no training.

Coaching leads is a term they made up for phone team supervisors. They were coined that as they were supposed to take the phone representative audit and coach them to do better. Not sure how they are planning on not having supervisors. I guess the managers get to do it now?

Wait more layoffs and restructuring... but I thought Macys was on the up and up! People they laid off thousands of people after Q4... mainly Asset Protection Team. They have closed or sold stores and some big ones at that. This helps inflate the profit shown by “operational excellence”. If they were profitable in the current model they would not have to pay people off or eliminate jobs. I think this is why Terry stepped down. He didn’t have the heart to lay people off and close stores. To watch this is sad... right sizing they call it but who knows, one day you could be on that chopping block and voted off the island!

So this means that we’ll have even more frustrated customers coming in to yell at associates within the stores about their card problems because they can’t get through to support. I’m telling you. Eventually, they will expect you to speak to 3 people at the same exact time. Just like they expect is to service 4 customers at the same time and complain when we get a bad survey due to lack of floor help. Macys is truly be run by id--ts at the top. Meaning Hal and Jeff!
