For those wondering the details of how it goes down, at least at FP, here is what happened to me.
Phone call to come down to a conference room.
Boss had a script to read from which ended with, "this decision is final." Really Mattel?
Handed it over to HR for contents of a folder.
Severance is one week for every year of service, which they pro-rate.
Take your yearly salary, divide by 52. Take this weekly amount and divide by 300. This is how many extra weeks they give you. Take the small number and multiply by your weekly. Add your years of service amount and this second equation and you get your severance.
They also give 1% of salary for every year you are over 39.
You get paid put for your vacation time on your last paycheck.
Severance comes as regular payroll until its exhausted.
If you sign the forms (what they are are TBD) then you get severance and health insurance for 3 months.
I was told I could keep my work phone if I'd like (they would port the number and take over the contract) and take my time saying my goodbyes.
And that was the end of my time at FP!
Good luck to those left standing!
