We need to drain the swamp

Grabbed from @U9NqSMM-7ijc, makes an excellent point more people should read:

Sam Walton Development Complex houses the real estate division. My two-cents, good! Time to drain the swamp. This consultant or workforce SR Director that has been brought on board needs to evaluate the saturated amount of directors (40+) and senior directors (20+) in realty. Is it really necessary to have so many top heavy management when the new store program (are we even still doing land deals?) is down to bare bones, remodels seems to be the push but for how long? It has been rumored that the 12 Senior directors and 12 directors that operate the store planning/construction/maintenance group cannot even agree in running a consistent program. It used to be so simple but when you just move personnel around without much experience, than expect nothing to get accomplished. Since the re-organization of 2017, the attitudes have been grim just as morale has been thrown out of the window. Just as many other departments/divisions, we too have lost many talented associates only to keep a certain amount of substandard folks. Definitely no development program for associates or clear career path within the division. AES? Same sh*t every year, same top three concerns year after year, get rid of the surveys if nothing is going to change.

Why does realty need senior managers II sitting behind a desk creating power points all day (standards team)? If I was this consultant, I would take a hard look at why are we paying so much in salaries for managers with minimal responsibilities.

Your long term associates (gold badges) seems to have forgotten the culture (10 foot rule, CBWA, sundown rule) and don't tend to instill any of the basic beliefs anymore (especially respect for the individual). Maybe it's time to send them on their way.

It doesn't matter if you have no talent, as long as you are part of the "good ol' boy network", you will

receive the positions/promotion(s) or keep your job, and for those that work diligently are just S.O.L. Last year's AES scores, multiple directors received very low scores, head scratcher as to how they are still here. Therefore, hopefully the new EVP will clean house and rid of the "network" and bring back a culture that was once "you work hard, you have proven yourself, experience, positive change agents, loyalty".......but only in our dreams. As a recently retired VP stated, plan your exit strategy. Best of luck for this "consultant" and hope that they make the right decision as it will affect everyone.

Just my two-cents.

Who do you think hired the “foreigners”? The Americans who supposedly “understand retail.”

The problem isn’t Americans vs. not, it’s Walmart vs. the reality of change.

Be careful what you wish for. Draining swamps is how terrible swamp things get dredged up from the bottom and put in charge.

I don’t think anyone cares what the situation is at the office. No one is concerned about the morale or the culture. They’re too focused on cring their pants re: Amazon. The layoffs will continue because they pulled an arbitrary number out of their aes, 10,000 to the new campus. They’ll cut too deep and we’ll fail. They’ll continue to layoff the harborers of tribal knowledge and we’ll fail. If they’re not careful, they’ll be building the campus for ghosts.

Summed up in a word: Cronyism. It has poisonously saturated all levels of power in society, from politics to commerce.

It's only when the money gets threatened that you see how loyal these pricks really are to each other ~
