Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is Walmart trying to manage down its store business?

With all the layoffs, it makes you wonder. Is Walmart trying to manage the decline of its store business?

You think we will close more stores in 2019

@UiP3GvR-gxn It was no less intelligible than any of Trump’s speeches. We should all be fluent by now.

The only thing that can save Walmart now is the very thing that made them: get back to slashing in store prices so low their competitors can't touch them. The ultimate loss-leader. They've more than got the money, it's a question of how deep the greed and if they're willing to sacrifice that short-mid term loss.

I wonder if they’re not cutting over time to manage down the sales of their bricks and mortar business while strategically redeploying resources into dotcom and some of their international segments.

I agree that we are devoid of good merchant leadership. I believe that we have leaders that don’t understand merchandise or how to display product. Nor do they understand how to run stores in my opinion.

In previous times, Walmart Leaders figured out how to fix/repair store issues in order to make them run efficiently and turn a profit. In today's environment of leaders that DO NOT have any merchandising abilities, the only way they can fix a problem is to close the store. They do not address the situation, they simply avoid it and pat themselves on the back all while telling themselves they did a great job.

As for @UiP3GvR-wxo - hopefully you will take your own advice and update your resume as well because your time is probably coming .......

One of Walmart's greatest liabilities is its stores. So the winning formula is the integration of physical and digital, which is where the company is headed. Rather than manage down its stores, Walmart is trying to make them more efficient.

Best of luck to anyone affected by the layoffs and restructure. Best advice is to have your resume always updated and ready to go. It doesn't hurt to also practice your interviewing skills on a regular basis.

This is one of those posts I wanted so bad to intelligently respond to, but, try as I might, I just. Couldn't. Make. Sense of it. ..
