Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Automotive jobs are plentiful for experienced professionals and are highly sought after.

Goodyear, Firestone, Independent, distribution centers, Walmart and on and on...Many even have sign on bonuses. If you've been around you probably have contacts too. One piece of advice is unless you have substantial severance don't stay on if you also have to close a full line store. You will be treated like a red headed step child. After all you've been through playing flavor of the week with Sears you can excel in a stable environment. I have many options already. Thankfully I never burnt bridges.

Best wishes too all..No doubt I'll miss my many loyal customers. ..not frigging Members. ..but I'm sure I'll run into many and make many more.

A friend of mine is a mechanic at a Lexus dealership here in California and makes $85,000 a year with full benefits and only has to work every other Saturday. He loves it.

If you have skills you do not work for Sears Auto. Everyone know that that job is a dead end or for those who cannot do anything else or those who have been around for a while and are waiting for retirement. Get out and get another job with better pay and benefits.

There have been rumors of auto center staff locking the doors and leaving when they're told they're closing.

4 weeks severance? To a 20 year employee?

Lots of available jobs and placement within 2 weeks pretty well guaranteed. Hell, a dealership around here based a guy higher then his benefit rate AND paid to have his tools moved. No more sundays rotating every 3rd saturday. He's very happy.
