Why are they still paying people in the NYC office. I heard they even get a huge bonus if they stay on until December. What is their value when we here in ES have already taken over and are doing all the work.
How many of those to be let go in December are the ones working one day a week at the NYC office until December? I'll bet you this next round will make the Montreal (reference WWE bret hart if you need to google it) look like a little girl slap fight.

They're already preparing "the list". Layoffs in November.
Mattel is circling the drain. Since 2015, there have been over 5000 layoffs. All the talk about a movie division and franchise is just fluff to get the company ready to sell - in parts or as a whole (or hole).
There will be another 1,000 let go come the end of the year

Don’t hold your breath on a great severance. That’s getting whittled down with each layoff. Apparently mattel is in the process of hiring a 3rd party company to handle layoffs so there will be no emotional component involved whatsoever. just by the numbers terminations. The start of the invevitable fire sale.

Yeah they have to pay for the salaries of those useless new execs they hired. Film division?!? What budget is that going to come from? Hey let’s start a movie business but we won’t give you money. Hahahahaha I wonder if they told them that when they hired them. Yah you gotta go find the cash for all your projects! Rinse and repeat. This is why Mattel is doomed.

All Facilities is looking to be out sourced. They have already look at this for ES and EA.
I expect things will be smaller and more targeted in the short term. But seriously, worrying about it won’t help. Just professionally, consider what moves you might make if it did. Better to come prepared.
