Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Who made the decision?

Who the heck was responsible for deciding who to lay off off?

Some of our best people are gone!

Who does things like this???

Does our management have any brains cells left??

Wanting to get rid of dead weight i understand, but this is just plain nuts...

This is going to come back to bite them in their behinds, you can bet on it...

God bless!

Not true every Dept. High paid 7nm lead IBMers in my department are all good and safe. My long time good friends gone.

They laid off NCGs and talented high paid as well. I was laid off and I have had good reviews every year with multiple awards also. I am also underpaid for my job title. The majority of people let go were talented, hard-working, and their only fault was working on 7nm. (Others I know of were also impacted in 14nm and were high paid technical leaders or NCGs.)

It was based on dollars and seniority level just like last time. The company just eviscerated itself again by targeting the better paid and also more experienced technical staff. Now GF will be even more dependent on their inexperienced new college grads, who have lost access to mentors and the downward spiral will continue. GF wants to play it cheap with their labor force and will get what they pay for.

Best talent retained and will work on 14/12 now. laid off ones were all non productive ones.

I would also like to know about this. Here is a question for TC at your global call.

My assumption is 7nm program had the best of the best working on it. Have you just gotten rid of all the best talent at GF in Malta.

I hope some of you grow a pair and ask some tough questions tomorrow.

I think a lot of it came down to management playing favorites this time around. I personally know people who have rated above expectations for years and whom are also underpaid for their job level and they were targeted.

Performane does not matter at all..better to have L4 and L5, personal relations with sr Dir, VP, nationality and IBM bakgroud. May differ from group to group

I think it is performance/(salary^2). Some are very good people, but they are also $$$.
