Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Stress Management

The continuous threat of layoffs here at GF is hanging over me big time (I am sure many agree) - this is stressing me out so much that it is affecting my health. I am concerned.... Anyhow, poor appetite, trouble sleeping, my blood pressure is high, and my concentration is not that good nowadays. Not that GF cares, of course. How do you deal with all this stress? Any secret trick that helps you stay collected?

Breathing exercises and Meditation can help to manage stress in a health way. I know Malta Community Center is organizing some stress relief meditation sessions for the community. Call them to check.

We are all going through it to some degree, try and reach out to colleagues and let them know how you feel and ask how they are feeling.

Thank you to the individuals who took the time to offer good advice to this person who is going through an understandably hard time. What he/she is feeling is NORMAL. Taking a d--g to try and prevent these reactions will not make it better. It will numb them and hinder handling the issues. If you do not have good advice, please refrain from posting.

Be pro-active. It sounds like you've survived the restructuring so far. The company has shown you its hand. Update your resume and LinkedIn, send connection requests to separated colleagues (never know where that next job might come from), and start planning for your future. Also agree with what Aeap-iku said: chill, relax, do something.

just chill, it’s part of corporate American culture, first time it feels awful but later it becomes a norm once you have gone through it a couple of times, our jobs are “at “will”, we can leave whenever we want and company can let us go when they want, just try to live with this fact and you will feel relaxed!! In addition do something on the side that can create some choices for you in the future
