What's the situation with severance?

Anybody knows what's going on with severance? What kind of packages will be offered this time?

I've heard from more than one person that we might be looking at significant cuts even there, and I'm hoping somebody here can shed some light on that (or hopefully say it isn't true.)

TommyC - I am afraid your understanding is inaccurate. If you take another job before the end of your 90 days, you only get the lump sum severance, that is the 1wk/yr portion. You will not get the remainder of your 90 days.

The exit paperwork is very clear that for everyone, you can start new job, and immediately accelerate the balance of your unpaid 90-day warn act time to be paid out when you notify GF. They want to know to stop your health benefits. PLUS you still also collect your severance - as long as you are not such a fool as to come back to GF - in which case you will work for free until your WARN act pay and severance runs out.

I've seen that, but from what I can tell everybody is talking about past layoffs, not the one that's coming.

read three threads down. Those getting the pink slips can stay on payroll for 90 days + 1wk/year severance paid at the end of the 90 days. If you want to join another company before the end of the 90 days, you have to quit and lose the rest of the 90 days, your severance and vacation payoff.
