A broken clock is right twice a day. So a broken clock is even better than this prediction.
Whether they announce BK on Sept. 1,2,3 or 30 or even in Oct. Nov. Dec. or in 2019 they will file. So it really doesnt matter when they file as long as everyone understands they will file.
If you need the job to pay bills then I would look for a new job.
If you are waiting for retirement then hold on until it happens.
If you are hoping for severance then you are taking a risk. They paid no severance to Sears Canada.
If you dont care and are just in it for extra money than do what you want.

If Sears plans to file bankruptcy, would that explain why they haven't posted their Q2 filings? For the past several years they've posted it by now.
I think Bon-Ton filed for Chapter 11 on a Sunday (before later converting to Chapter 7)

They do it to keep up appearances--make everything seem like business as usual in order to hide their real intentions/motives. Then out of left field, they announce the big BK without any warning. Lots of big companies use that kind of strategy.

Why would they bother to announce closing stores if there was a bankruptcy filing coming? Would it be better to do all that at once? Also you know that eddies college roommate is secretary of treasure, I’m sure he would have influence on the pgcb. I am sure bk will happen just not anytime soon.

Op said the first week of September. Labor day is only the first Monday, filing could be done Tuesday - Friday. Why is everyone hung up on Labor day?
People working in Sears are fools I use to work for sears.com in Hoffman Estate, not even a single day Eddie came to Hoffman Estate office as he DGAF about anyone. He will buy Kenmore and Home Service and will close both Sears & Kmart with Chapter 7 and right now it's high time to search for new job else Uncle Eddie will fill his pocket and kick you and your lovely Sears and Kmart out of his way.
September 3 is Labor Day. Nothing open to file anything., thanks for reminding me.....Labor day just means I work more than usual, it's not a holiday that is at the top of my list. I guess we shall see what comes of this rumor as it seems to be fairly consistent among many. After thinking about it, they will probably file on August 27th and announce on September 3rd....this makes sense as earnings are due any day now and by September the pre-holiday/Halloween period should be well under way

If they were to announce any sort of bankruptcy it would have to be Chapter 7 because there is NO WAY that they would go Chapter 11 since there is little or no money left in the tanks and it would be easier to just liquidate everything.
I've heard September 3rd. They will be out of cash and announce that day. Granted, just rumors.
That's not all. The Feds are investigating Eddie as we speak. It's common knowledge in some circles here.
I strongly do believe it might happen in September honestly. The reason is more obvious because PBGC basically is interfering with Eddie master plan. I don't know the details, but if they take all the funds or the majority it might not be enough cash to last this Christmas.
