Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

1 round of layoffs complete, 2 more to go for 2018!

And I guarantee the high-level execs that put the company in this position won’t be losing a second of sleep over fear of losing their jobs.

Keep telling us how well we’re doing as a company, Tommy boy, while you deliver the news of the next round of layoffs.

Keep beating your chest at the all-hands meetings, telling us how good we’re doing as a company and then tell people they are losing their jobs while you purchase another house. Where’s your pay cut? Where’s the transparency? What a horrible company to constantly lie to all of its employees when the warning signs are so obvious.

I have a question to all here that seem to have more information than I can find...

I just read a post regarding layoffs starting November 28th. Is this the layoffs that just took place August 28/29? Or is this another round that is planned? General consensus among my co-workers is that they are referring to the most recent layoffs due to affected employees getting 90 days severance. However, the article [https://dailygazette.com/article/2018/08/30/globalfoundries-job-cuts-to-total-455-in-capital-region] said the total number of employees layed off was 455. This seems way too low! This place is empty!

funny thing is everyone knows what gonna happen next week, this being the worst kept secret and most of the 7nm guys probably getting pink slips, still a 7nm tapeout is underway and everyone associated, are working like hell this week to make it successful 🙄

The most interesting thing that I heard through the rumor mill was that our CTO (GP) and his TA (JBL) had no other work so they decided to create GP's Wikipedia page highlighting his accolades.
