Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Your view on stock uptrend?

So what do you guys think? Cooking books like ENRON or are there actual improvements? Be honest.. but be nice :-)

I'm a ex employee that was laid off in February.. been waiting for the zit to pop so I can return to a similar position. When and if ever the time is right. For all the hell of no raises and constant changing of rules with Jobtrac.. it was still a good job. Having a boss to filter the c-ap from above made all the difference.

Windstream's new business model is to get lean by layoffs and outsourcing. Then to buy new companies with the reclassification off the money they dont spend on salaries as LESS of a profit loss i.e. a profit gain. Then to buy another low hanging company and milk its cash flows dry. Rinse and repeat.

Every team that supports the company (especially front line and repair) will be outsourced.

And dont forget, SDWAN is designed so that the customer can turn up circuits/be on their own. Get the picture?

Get your head out of the sand. TT isnt going to fix the management problem. That's not even his focus bc he doesn't care about your employee morale except for the BS that he publishes based on your surveys. You're all one step away from telecommuting from another country. This is a fact that I know from the inside, not trolling. So all of you that dont have any options in life bc you're worthless or you lied on your job application that you didn't have a felony......oopsie, ur fugged!!! And ya did it to yaself.

True story. You know who you are

Despite overall job growth - the tech sector and specifically telecom have declined. ATT, Verizon, CL, and etc are all laying off employees. Many at Verizon in the east/se are either losing their jobs soon or will be moved to remote home offices (announced by Verizon in March).

And if you think you got job security at spectrum.. you be smoking some c-ap. Lay offs are apart of their hiring strategy... though they tend to pay well. Just don't expect growth there.. they are massively stuck in their hired positions.

I was speaking to a clec guy doing a similar job I am doing.. his company pays their new employees w/ no experience the same I am making in my mid-level position with tons of experience and education... I agree there is more money to made else where.. unless you negotiate a new position and salary... or find a career launcher position that will send you up the ladder mad fast.

If you worked at WorldCom...you know it's like WorldCom.

(From thread origionator) Actually I do live in a major Metro and I am currently employed. I'm making a lot more money than I was making at Win. The question wasn't really directed towards those that are living in a rural area. I have plenty of communication with the other telecoms.. I'm aware that many of them have Current financial issues but none that are as bad as winstream with the exception of maybe Frontier. Even with the extra money I'm making these days I very much value the experience that winstream provided me. Not only that but doing all outside plant for two states was a thrill for me. Having the support of my boss to make whatever decision I felt right for any given situation was liberating... That is until the mass cutbacks.. the constant re-org.. and the collapse of employee moral.. Windstream was good to me in the sense that I did get a severance package and my time off work was nothing more than a three-week vacation for me. if there was if there was some stability in the company and I felt that I might get a raise every year... I will come back in a second

HA HA HA HA HA HA - I’m sorry can’t stop laughing.

PENNY STOCK + FINANCIAL ENGINEERING AT IT’S VERY VERY BEST.

YOU GUYS NEED TO STEP AWAY FROM TT’s TEA BAR.

SEE YOU AT THE BOTTOM WHEN I CASH OUT MY SHORT POSITION.

In the meantime I would look st some profitable telecoms like ATT - VERIZON - SPECTRUM if your married to this sector.

Best of luck.

Similar to Enron in that there are few tangible assets left with WIN after spinning them off to UNIT, but WIN is more similar to WorldCom since they can't grow revenues organically, so they resort to acquiring "revenues" . We all know what happened to WorldCom when they could no longer afford acquisitions. BK.

For those that do live in rural area I understand your 'dedication' to Windstream a bit more - perhaps you do not have many options other than to relocate.

Never the less, no technology oriented company is going to flourish, especially in today's low unemployment climate for tech workers, by destroying company morale and failing to compete compensation wise.

There seems to be no changing senior management's love affair with themselves and their cronies. So the Zit only becomes larger, irritated and more painful - perhaps the eventual puss spewing from the Zit can be view similar to investors and workers leaving for fresh skin where available.

They got a bump based on 2nd quarter numbers. It won't last, IMO.

So what about us that in fact DO live in rural areas? Not many choices here.

I feel sorry for you if working for Windstream and receiving a stagnant paycheck (constantly declining when inflation adjusted) is something you cherished and reminisce over. Do you live in a rural area and lack other options? Move On !!

Windstream is dying a slow death while Executives continue to betray the base employees for their own greed!

Sales and revenue continue to decline. No clear direction where the company is going as a whole.

And the c-ap spilling out of TT's and other executive's mouths regarding becoming a 'Growth Company' is just that - Garbage to keep the vultures at bay while they tear off as much rotting flesh that they can carry into their bank accounts before the carrion hits the fan!
