Sears AP cuts

Cut AP out of Sears. Shrink goes through the roof. Theft is not the cause of the shrink. Got it.

Alot of store waste comes from the DCs but remember even if the stores waste out by being shorted from the DC the company will get that back when the DC does inventory so another example why AP is and was useless

We had a big problem with shoplifting at our store when I worked there, which was to be expected because not only only did we not have AP, we didn't have enough associates out on the floor to deter theft. A lot of the times, large areas of the stores were unattended and shoplifters basically had free roam of the store. However, on hand counts were another big issue and a lot of that had to do with the fact that there was merchandise that has been shipped in lower quantities than what the system reported.

I think the reason why this happened was because the RRC trucks were scanned in just once, from the barcode on the manifest or a barcode of a random box. In contrast, everything on the DDC trucks were scanned in piece by piece and the system would tell you if there was a discrepancy right then and there. In the case of RRC, once the one barcode was scanned, all of the inventory information was confirmed in the system and was assumed to be the proper amounts, and it automatically added everything the system assumed was on the truck into the store inventory.

If there were any shortages (or overages), you would never know until inventory rolled around. Last year we were missing things like five generators or 100 pairs of the same shoe. Even with a shoplifting problem, it is highly unlikely that somebody walked out with things like the five generators and 100 pairs of the same shoe we were missing.

Likely from erroneous "on-hand" inventory numbers.
