Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Not even online will survive

I know a bunch of people keep saying that Sears will close all brick-and-mortar stores and continue to operate as an online retailer, but do you honestly think even that will survive? Next to giants such as Amazon and Walmart? And while alienating customers that might have once upon a time searched for it online out of loyalty, but now couldn't care less about Sears?

When Sears is done, it will be done. Stores and online. There is no saving this ship, even with lifeboats.

@yyu-- Exactly right. I have tried to order items from the store I work in and have "unavaliable" for store pick-up or even delivery. I know we have the item because one time I was standing in front of the products, which we had 10, while I tried to order on my phone. Not being able to match online pricing also hurts not only the store but the online sales

My big issue with Sears.com and Kmart.com is with random things being "unavailable" or not available for store pickup. I can't count how many times I've gotten the "not available for store pickup within 50 miles" message.

I've even tried to do a mock purchase of things I knew my store had in stock and it still said it was unavailable for pick up. The on-hand counts were higher than 1 for these things, too.

I never had any issue on Amazon and eBay.

Sears.com is ranked number FIFTY-TWO in the ranking of US companies, and ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED THIRTY TWO in global rankings, NOT number three.

As much as Sears s---s the site isnt that bad. Here is a ranking site to show they rank 3rd overall. I guess not investing in physical stores had to pay off somewhere.

Sears webiste is a disaster. Hard to navigate, glitchy, and too many third party sellers with no accountability. Amazon has third party seller and they have a ranking and if I get something wrong from Amazon third party vendor Amazon will take care of it if I cant get the vendor to act.

On the other hand some third party vendors prices are three to four times retail. Many people think that when they buy off of the Sears website that they are buying from Sears. And then when the customer has a problem they come to Sears/Kmart to exchange or get a refund and we tell them that it is not Sears they bought from but someone who dropped shipped from China or a guy working out of his garage on weekends. They are not happy. Sears website has a bad reputation and it hurts the stores.

Sears.com is known in the industry as one of the WORST eCommerce sites ever. They consistently rate it at the bottom. Seriously....have you ever tried to actually make a purchase on the platform? It's next to impossible.

Of course. Sears online will die. Just as SYW will die. It's unavoidable. It's their destiny. The journey towards the Dark Side is now complete. All the souls, who still work for Sears and Kmart, belong to Emperor Darth Eddie Lampert now.
